Tad Nelson Wins Backing of League City Police Officers Association PAC in his Re-Election Bid

(League City) - Tad Nelson, candidate for re-election to the League City Council, has received the coveted endorsement of the powerful League City Police Officers Association PAC for the municipal election scheduled for May, 10^th 2008.

The League City Police Officers Association PAC (LCPOA PAC) represents the interests of over 100 men and women in uniform city wide. The endorsement came as a result of the recommendation from the Executive Committee of the PAC Board and was ratified by the members of the LCPOA PAC.

Councilman Nelson, a former prosecutor, has been an attorney for 17 years and has a long history of public service. As a councilman, he has been strong supporter of the police department. More than 20 police officers have been hired under councilman Nelson’s term, he has voted to create and fund the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement program, passed a tough ordinance regulating where sex offenders live in the city, voted for Meet and Confer for the police officers association, and favors building a new criminal justice center to replace the more than 20-yeard old facility that houses the League City Police Department. Tad Nelson also defended Civil Service protection for police officers when it was attacked by liberal political activists.

Sean Arena, President of the League City Police Officers Association PAC, said, “ Our endorsement is based on Councilman Nelson’s proven history of supporting the efforts of the association to improve the benefits and the working conditions of our officers. We look forward to working with him in the future in the meet and confer process to help us recruit and retain the best-trained, best-paid officers in the area to deliver the high-quality law enforcement service League City citizens demand.”

Nelson stated, "Our citizens respect those who wear uniforms and are willing to risk their lives to protect and serve our community. After September 11, 2001, we all came to appreciate that the members of law enforcement fight the possibility of catastrophic events right here in our communities and are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our safety."

Nelson added, "This is a major endorsement that I am very proud and honored to receive but did not expect. The League City Police department is a large part of why our quality of life in League City is so outstanding. I am gratified to know those in uniform appreciate my service to our community and look forward to continuing to back our men and women in blue."
